Loving Life With Our Furry Friends
I am about a life shaped by animals from the very beginning, with dogs featuring in the earliest of memories and cats never far behind. Over the years, many other creatures joined the family fold, but dogs and cats remained the faithful constants — ever present, remembered and loved.
Much of my understanding and care shown towards animals today stems from a remarkable and lasting influence: my father, he managed a royal stables with quiet confidence and deep compassion. His respectful, intuitive approach to every creature he encountered left a lasting impression. Simply by watching him work — with patience, kindness, and a deep sense of connection — laid the foundations for a lifelong devotion to animal care and wellbeing.
Our Story
First memories and for ever after of being surrounded by animals teaches more than any book could ever do. From a lifetime spent with a cast of goldfish, hamsters, mice, a chinchilla with attitude, tortoises, dogs, cats, parrots, budgies, goats, donkeys, and horses, the journey has been rich in fur, feathers, and unforgettable love and lessons. Not all at once, of course — though it sometimes felt like a scene straight out of Dr. Dolittle!
This blog is a heartfelt space where decades of hands-on cleaning up after, caring for, laughing with, crying over and learning from animals has provided a huge amount of invaluable experience. It’s a place for practical advice, gentle wisdom, and the kind of stories that only a life spent in the company of animals can provide. Alongside tips and guides, it occasionally shares treasured memories — including a much-loved tale often told by a dearly missed father, whose love for animals and storytelling lives on in every word.
